Salzstein-Deo (Alaun) vs. Corpus Naturals: Meine Erfahrung nach je 3–4 Monaten (ehrlich & alltagstauglich)

Salt stone deodorant (alum) vs. Corpus Naturals: My experience after 3-4 months each (honest & suitable for everyday use)

More about me and my journey with acne: About me :)

Briefly explained (for those who only have 20 seconds):

  • I used salt stone deodorant (alum) for about 3-4 months : super minimalist, but not always consistent on "intense" days.

  • After that, I tested Corpus Naturals for about 3-4 months : for me it was more reliable and suitable for everyday use (application, feeling, less “deodorant management”).

  • When body odor changes during phases such as stress/heat/hormonal vibes: routine and adjustment often make more of a difference than you think.

  • My basics: dry skin , less product , reducing build-up – plus a gentle transition (link in text).

Why I even looked for an alternative

As I have already discussed the pros and cons of salt stone deodorant and natural deodorant on my Instagram profile , here on the blog I will take you through the longer version – including my honest comparison after 3-4 months each.

I was really happy with a salt crystal deodorant (alum / “Deodorant Crystal”) for a long time. I used it consistently for 3-4 months – and I totally understand why so many people love it: minimalist, “clean”, uncomplicated.

But then I went through phases where my body simply reacted more : heat, stress, being on the go a lot – sometimes also those hormonal “vibes” where you suddenly feel different than usual. And then I often had the feeling: “The salt stone is nice – but I would like more reliability.”

So I got Corpus Naturals next – and tested that in my daily routine for 3-4 months as well. Result: I stuck with it.

Salt stone deodorant explained briefly: What is it exactly?

Salt stone deodorants often consist of potassium alum , which is sold as “Deodorant Crystal”.
Important: This is not an antiperspirant in the classic sense – it's more about odor management (environment/germs), not about "stopping sweating".

Comparison: Salt rock vs. Corpus – what really made the difference for me

1) Body odor during stressful/warm periods

  • Salt rock (alum): great on calm days. On more intense days, I often felt "uncertain" – I had to think about whether it would last until the evening.

  • Corpus Naturals: significantly more consistent . Apply in the morning, and I don't think about it again for the rest of the day.

If this topic is on your mind (your smell changes even though you're doing "everything the same"), be sure to read this article on your blog:

2) Application & skin feel (many underestimate this)

Salt rock is super minimal – but you have to moisten it, go over it evenly, and hope you've got enough.
What I liked about Corpus was its "modern" application: a few swipes , and you're done. It sounds trivial, but in real life, that's the reason why people use something long-term.

3) Residues on clothing

I'm sensitive to deodorants that leave marks on dark clothing. Corpus was more practical for my everyday use because I had less "deodorant management" to do in the bathroom and in front of the wardrobe.

Switching to natural deodorant without the drama: my 3 most important tips

Many people say “natural deodorant doesn’t work for me” – and often it’s not the deodorant itself, but the change in use/application.

  1. Apply to completely dry skin (wait a short while after showering).

  2. Less, but evenly – too much product doesn't make it better.

  3. Reduce build-up: Gently exfoliate or cleanse more thoroughly 1-2 times per week.

My conclusion after 3-4 months each

I won't speak ill of salt stone deodorant – I really liked it.
But if you (like me) have phases where you want more consistency , Corpus is the better “everyday” deodorant for me: more reliable in terms of smell, less complicated in everyday life, and simply the feeling of “I am covered”.

FAQ: Salt stone, natural deodorant & body odor

1) Does salt stone deodorant really help against underarm odor?
For many, yes – especially on “normal” days. In my case, it was super minimalist and comfortable, but in warm weather/stressful conditions, I didn't always feel 100% consistent.

2) Why do I sometimes smell stronger even though I've just showered?
Odor often depends less on the sweat itself and more on what happens on the skin (microbiome, residue/build-up, clothing material). That's precisely why basics like dry skin, less product, and occasional gentle exfoliation help.

3) What to do if natural deodorant "doesn't work" or causes irritation at first?
Don't give up immediately: the transition can take a few days. Apply natural deodorant to completely dry skin, use less product, and reduce build-up. For a gentle transition without irritation, I've also linked my guide on the MYSK blog in this article.

4) For whom is Corpus particularly useful?
If you want more everyday peace of mind – meaning less worrying about scent, quick application, and a pleasant feeling on your skin. Especially during phases when your body reacts "differently," this was the crucial difference for me.
