Eva Jurić (Stapić): My Acne Journey and the Founding of MYSK

My name is Eva Juric. I am the founder of the MYSK Online Beauty Store and behind the Instagram profile @myskinisgettingbetter. In earlier Croatian media reports, I appeared under my former name Eva Stapić.

What is today a curated beauty store and a community centered around conscious skincare began in one of the most difficult phases of my life: with acne, insecurity, and the feeling of not being comfortable in my own skin.

For over ten years, I tried various dermatological treatments, active ingredients, dietary approaches, and skincare routines. My story has been covered by various Croatian beauty, lifestyle, and news media over the years.

In this post, I want to summarize my skin journey, the creation of @myskinisgettingbetter, and the path to founding MYSK.

More than ten years of acne experience

My acne started during my school years. Individual blemishes turned into recurring, sometimes severe breakouts, which affected not only my skin's appearance but also my self-confidence and daily life.

Especially during my studies, there was a phase where I hardly wanted to leave the house without makeup. Spontaneous meetings, lectures, or a quick shopping trip suddenly became situations I thought about for a long time beforehand.

I tried various treatments and skincare routines. Often, I changed too many things at once, combined several active ingredients, or expected results too quickly.

Today I know: sensitive and acne-prone skin doesn't always need more products. Often, it primarily needs a comprehensible, consistent, and well-tolerated routine.

How @myskinisgettingbetter came to be

During the most difficult phase of my skin journey, I opened the Instagram profile @myskinisgettingbetter.

At first, it was a personal diary. I documented progress, setbacks, dermatological treatments, and my experiences with various skincare products.

Over time, it grew into a community of people who could identify with acne, sensitive skin, and the insecurities that come with it.

The term Skin Positivity became an important part of my work. For me, Skin Positivity does not mean ignoring skin problems or not wanting to treat them. It means not making your self-worth dependent on how calm, clear, or even your skin looks on a particular day.

The turning point of my skin journey

A significant turning point was a dermatologically supervised Roaccutane therapy. At the same time, I learned how important care is during and especially after intensive dermatological treatment.

After the therapy, I increasingly focused on:

My skin is still not perfect every day. The difference is that I understand its reactions better and know when I should simplify my routine.

Note: My personal experience does not replace medical advice. Severe, painful, or persistent acne should always be examined by a dermatologist.

From personal skin journey to MYSK

During my Master's degree in International Management, I became increasingly involved with beauty, product formulations, e-commerce, and brand building.

In parallel, I tested skincare products for years and collaborated with various international beauty brands. This taught me to look at formulations more critically and to better distinguish between short-term trends and products that can be integrated into a routine long-term.

MYSK emerged from this combination.

MYSK is a curated online beauty store with the principle:

Less, but better – Routine instead of short-term trends.

I want to offer products that are not just interestingly marketed, but have a comprehensible place within a skincare routine. The focus is on tolerability, consciously selected formulations, and a realistic approach to skin.

Eva Juric (Stapić) and MYSK in the Media

Since the founding of @myskinisgettingbetter, my story has been covered by various Croatian media. The articles show different stages of my journey – from the first public conversation about acne and skin positivity to the founding of MYSK.

Interviews and personal portraits

Fashion.hr already presented @myskinisgettingbetter in 2022 as a beauty account that combines honest product experiences with support for people with acne.

Shortly after, I spoke with Radio Vallis Aurea about my origins, my studies, the psychological effects of acne, and why a positive and honest community is so important to me.

Grazia Hrvatska also followed my work for several years. The interviews covered skin positivity, my beauty routine, and my development from a personal Instagram page to a professional beauty platform.

In 2024, I told Ljepota&Zdravlje more extensively about my acne experience, the dermatologically supervised therapy, and why skin positivity is more than a social media trend for me.

The founding of MYSK

In September 2025, Fashion.hr published a detailed interview about my journey from @myskinisgettingbetter to the founding of MYSK.

In October 2025, a portrait in Gloria followed, covering my skin journey, my simple skincare routine, and the establishment of my own beauty company.

Other media also picked up on my experiences as a beauty creator and founder. These articles discussed, among other things, changes within the beauty community, skincare trends, hyperpigmentation, and how honest beauty content can survive in a fast-paced social media world.

What connects all these articles

Although the media reports are from different years, they share a common theme: honest skincare without the promise of perfection.

My work did not begin with a finished business plan or the desire to become an influencer. It began with the need to feel less alone and to share my experiences with others.

Today, this very idea continues to be part of MYSK:

  • Skin can change.
  • A good routine doesn't have to consist of ten steps.
  • More expensive does not automatically mean better.
  • A product must suit the skin and the existing routine.
  • Dermatological treatment and cosmetic care have different tasks.
  • Skincare should be supportive and not create additional pressure.

The next step in the MYSK story

MYSK continues to develop together with its community. In addition to carefully selected products, you will find understandable guides, personal product experiences, interviews, and routines for different skin needs on the MYSK blog.

My goal is not to sell you every new trend. My goal is to help you choose more consciously and build a routine that you enjoy using long-term.

Glad you are part of this journey.

All the best,
Eva

Before & After (2019–2020): hormonally influenced acne & my path to stability

2019–2020 was one of the most difficult phases for my skin: severe impurities and inflammatory breakouts, influenced by hormonal fluctuations. The change you see here is the result of dermatologically supervised treatment (including chemical peels and microneedling) – and above all, a consistent, skin barrier-friendly skincare routine afterward.

Note: Every skin is different. This content does not replace medical advice.
